Happy Birthday Jesus

I was thinking this morning that the “problem” with Christmas is not the fun and fantasy and magic for children, the gifts and food and family for all ages, but that we have not talked and lived enough about the birth of Jesus and what it is really all about. It’s our problem as followers of Jesus, not the world’s problem. I am not so worried about the world taking away the meaning of Christmas but that we have not talked enough about the real meaning. Jesus came into the world as a baby as a gift from God. That is pretty “magical” to me in a very good way. He came to do more than give me some presents but to give me the best present of all, himself. God with us. Jesus left heaven and came to earth to die for our sin and invite us to receive forgiveness and then to spend the rest of our lives following him as disciples. Christmas celebrates that. It’s the best news of all. Have a very Happy Christmas this year in the middle of whatever traditions you enjoy as you share in the Joy of Jesus. Happy Birthday Jesus!
